Sharps Disposal Container
A sharps disposal container is designed to safely dispose of sharp objects that could potentially cause injury or spread infection. This container is puncture-resistant, leak-proof and intended specifically for the collection and disposal of medical sharps. Sharps disposal containers can be purchased at pharacmies, medical supply stores, and on-line. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), sharps disposal containers must have the following to ensure safety:
- Made with heavy-duty plastic
- Leak-resistant
- Closed with a fitted, puncture-resistant lid
- Upright and stable
- Properly labeled with a hazard warning
