Safe Disposal of Used Needles, Lancets, Syringes, and Unwanted Medications
A used needle or an unwanted bottle of medication may seem like a small household disposal problem, but once either enters the regular trash, it becomes a risk for waste and recycling workers. A loose sharp can puncture a bag, injure a worker or create an exposure risk.  The safest approach is to keep these materials out of the normal waste management system.
