I am interested in increasing awareness and educating others on safe medication practices in my community, what can I do?
Public Health campaigns are a great place to start and Take Charge Ohio offers support and guidance beyond just a campaign. Take Charge Ohio is more than a campaign – it’s an initiative to empower all Ohioans to work together to use pain medication safely. Ohio is in the middle of an overdose epidemic and safe use of pain medication is a crucial part of the solution. All of Ohio is affected by this epidemic and it will take all of us to turn the tide. We are patients, family members, doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, parents, children, people struggling with addiction, people in recovery, people in pain, and people who want to make a difference. While many of us come from different backgrounds, the one thing we have in common is that we are all Ohioans. It’s time to Take Charge, Ohio. The toolkit contains presentations, print and digital ads, social media tools, brochures, handouts and videos.

I am an employer in Ohio, what tools can I use to support my employees?

Ohio’s employers are asking what they should do about the opioid problem in their own workplaces. The Ohio Chamber of Commerce Opioid Toolkit provides resources for employers to be better prepared to prevent and respond to the problem. With the help and expertise of a member company, Working Partners®, and financial support from member company, Anthem, the Opioid Toolkit was developed and contains several resources free of charge to any company that is doing business in Ohio. Additional resources include awareness campaign materials and informational materials and resources.

I know a young person impacted by prescription drug misuse or addiction, how can I help?

Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is proud to sponsor the “Be Present” campaign for youth, teens and young adults across the state – from high school, through college and early adulthood.
Rather than feeling isolated, we want teens and young adults in Ohio to be seen, heard and supported, not judged. The “Be Present” Campaign is all about “how to grow through it.” It’s OK not to always be OK. Everyone has a bad day from time to time but when things get really intense or struggles go on for a while, we need people who will care enough to step in.
This campaign was created BY you, FOR you. Our goal is to educate and empower peers, friends, classmates and siblings to step up and help each other when we need to deal with issues that we struggle with issues such as:

I am concerned that someone I know may have a problem with prescription drug abuse, where can I find treatment resources?
