Welcome to Ohio Rx Disposal's Community Action and Planning Center. Is your Coalition, Task Force, or Community Organization interested in taking action to reduce prescription drug misuse in your community? The Community Action and Planning Center has resources to help you identify risk and protective factors, sample prevention activities, as well as a workgroup to help you make your own strategic plan to address needs of your community.

  1. Educate the community about proper storage and disposal of medications
  2. Educate the community about risks involved in sharing medications
  3. Provide social media messages that encourage people to properly store their medications
  4. Support drug take back events
  5. Support permanent prescription drug drop boxes
Availability/Access- Retail
  1. Work with doctors on prescribing practices and encourage use of OARRS
  2. Include pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, and all other prescribing medical professionals in educating patients about proper medication storage and disposal
  3. Collaborate with physicians groups to promote Ohio's Prescribing Guidelines ​​

  1. Educate the community about stigma
  2. Help communities increase readiness to address all substance misuse

  2. Encourage parents to talk to youth about substance misuse of all substances
  3. Educate parents and caregivers about the impact of all substances on brain development
